It's now available for users of the GNOME 3.22.2 desktop

The last planned point release of the GNOME 3.22 desktop environment arrived a month ago, and it looks like the Nautilus file manager only now received its second maintenance update for the 3.22 series.

That's right, Nautilus 3.22.2 is now available, released on December 10, 2016, and it's a bugfix release that improves keyboard navigation for opening of menus, the popover animation, the recently introduced batch rename functionality, which failed to rename files in some cases, and supports desktop icons on Wayland sessions.

The second point release of Nautilus 3.22 also addresses some issues regarding the wrong progress information in operations in non-local files, and due to races, it fixes a speed regression when attempting to copy or move files, reverses the view icon logic to match design expectations, and lets you select entire names when renaming folders.

Last but not least, Nautilus 3.22.2, whose source archive you can download right now from our website if you fancy compiling the software yourself, uses the same setting used for "directories first" for both Nautilus and the file chooser, and removes the bookmarks manager shortcut from the shortcut window.

Nautilus 3.22.2 is distributed as part of the GNOME 3.22.2 desktop environment, but it doesn't mean it won't receive any other maintenance updates in the near future. The new version should land in the stable repositories of your favorite GNU/Linux distribution in the coming days as well, so update at your earliest convenience.
