Meizu announced that users can now buy the phone once more

The new Meizu MX4 Ubuntu Edition is now back in stock after being absent for a few days. It looks like the decision to make it freely available actually led to being sold out.

The Meizu MX4 Ubuntu Edition is the newest member of the family, and it's also the most powerful of the bunch. It was initially made available for developers in China and eventually released in Europe, with a very strict policy. Users had to play a short online Origami game and thus have the chance to get an invitation to buy it.

Scripts were written by members of the community to bypass the process. Some users even reported they had to make about 600 tries (using a trick obviously) before getting an invitation.

The invitation system was lifted a couple of days ago and everyone was free to buy it. From the looks of it, there were either just a few phones ready or the demand was greater than anticipated. In any case, the phone immediately sold out. Meizu has announced that it is now back in stock and it's unlikely that it will become unavailable anytime soon.

We tested the Meizu MX4 Ubuntu Edition and we found it to be very good, even if there are a few points of contention. You can check out our review of the phone at the link for more details.
