Canonical's Joseph Salisbury has informed us all about the latest work done by the Ubuntu Kernel Team for the upcoming Ubuntu 15.10 (Wily Werewolf) operating system, during the meeting that took place earlier today, August 25, 2015.

Therefore, we can report that the Ubuntu Kernel Team managed to upgrade the Linux kernel packages of the Ubuntu 15.10 (Wily Werewolf) operating system to the latest development version announced by Linus Torvalds at the beginning of this week, on August 24, Linux kernel 4.2 RC8.

However, it would appear that the fglrx (AMD Catalyst) DKMS package fails to build with Linux kernel 4.2 Release Candidate 8. As such, users of AMD/ATI Radeon graphics cards will have a problem testing the current development build of Ubuntu 15.10 with a proper video driver, but the Ubuntu Kernel Team is hard at work to fix any issues.

"We have rebased our Wily master-next branch to the latest upstream v4.2-rc8 and uploaded to our ~canonical-kernel-team PPA. The fglrx DKMS package is still failing to build with this latest kernel. We are actively investigating to get this resolved," says Joseph Salisbury.

The first Beta build of the opt-in flavors for Ubuntu 15.10 (Wily Werewolf) will be released this Thursday, August 27, 2015. Ubuntu itself will not be part of this first Beta release, but you will be able to download and test distributions like Kubuntu, Ubuntu MATE, Ubuntu Kylin, Xubuntu, and Ubuntu GNOME.
