Another week has passed, so it's time for you to get your hands on a new RC (Release Candidate) version of the upcoming Linux 4.2 kernel series, as Linus Torvalds himself announced just a few hours ago.

According to Linus Torvalds, Linux kernel 4.2 RC2 is a normal Release Candidate build that includes updated drivers, especially for things like DRM, improvements to the ARM, MIPS, PA-RISC, and x86 architectures, optimizations for the Btrfs file system, as well as perf tool build fixes.

"Another week, another rc. What can I say? Call me boring, but that's how this all works," says Linus Torvalds. "This is not a particularly big rc, and things have been fairly calm. We definitely did have some problems in -rc1 that bit people, but they all seemed to be pretty small, and let's hope that -rc2 ends up having fewer annoying issues."

Those of you who want to take this RC build for a test drive can download Linux kernel 4.2 Release Candidate 2 right now via Softpedia or from the kernel.org website. However, please try to keep in mind that it's a pre-release software and it is not suitable for production environments where stability is of the essence.
