A few minutes ago, Stefano Verzegnassi had the great pleasure of announcing on his Google+ page that the LibreOffice Document Viewer application landed in the Ubuntu Store for all supported Ubuntu Phone devices.

According to Mr. Verzegnassi, the Ubuntu Document Viewer 2.0 is now live in the Ubuntu Store and lets Ubuntu Phone owners view all sorts of documents created with the LibreOffice applications, including word documents, spreadsheets, and presentations.

"Ubuntu Document Viewer 2.0 (with +LibreOffice documents support) just hit the Store," said Stefano Verzegnassi. "A big thanks goes to anyone who contributed to make this happen: Roman Shchekin, Bjoern Michaelsen, the Community Team and the Design team. I'd like also to thank the Ubuntu translators for their silent job they commit every day."

The LibreOffice Document Viewer app has been in development for quite some time now, but the Ubuntu developers have managed to bring this new stable release to all Ubuntu Phone users. Version 2.0 is a total rebuild of the entire project and includes numerous fixes and improvements, as well as code refactoring and cleanup.

From now on, the Ubuntu developer behind this great application will concentrate their efforts on implementing more awesome features that apparently are missing from the LibreOffice DocViewer. Anyway, if you have an Ubuntu Phone device, go and grab the Document Viewer 2.0 app from the Ubuntu Store and enjoy your LibreOffice documents.

The application is supported on all devices endorsed by Canonical, including BQ Aquaris E4.5 Ubuntu Edition, BQ Aquaris E5 HD Ubuntu Edition, Meizu MX4 Ubuntu Edition, Nexus 4, and Nexus 7. Below we've attached a few screenshots of LibreOffice DocViewer 2.0 in action, courtesy of Stefano Verzegnassi.
