Today, July 11, 2016, Vivaldi has released a new snapshot version for all supported platforms, including GNU/Linux, Mac OS X, and Microsoft Windows, bringing multiple fixes and enhancements.

According to Vivaldi's Magnus Peter Langeland, there are over 70 fixes and improvements implemented in Vivaldi Snapshot 1.3.534.3, but in this blog story, we would like to tell our Linux readers about an important change that promises to improve tab hibernation when running the web browser on their operating systems.

Based on the latest Chromium 52, Vivaldi Snapshot 1.3.534.3 comes with a new Hibernation option that lets you hibernate tabs while the web browser is running. It works by keeping the tabs you don't use in a hibernation state, thus freeing up system memory. That's really cool, isn't it? The option can be activated via the tab right-click context menu.

"Good news for Linux users! You can now hibernate tabs while the browser is running," said Magnus Peter Langeland. "Choose Hibernate Tab to hibernate the selected tab or Hibernate Background Tabs to hibernate all other tabs in the window. Oh and remember, you cannot hibernate a tab while you are viewing its contents."

These and many other cool improvements, such as extra mouse gestures, search engine changes, and a new privacy option for WebRTC that have landed in today's snapshot of Vivaldi. You can download the DEB and RPM binary packages of Vivaldi Snapshot 1.3.534.3 for GNU/Linux operating systems right now via our website, but keep in mind that this is a pre-release version.
