The developers of the CoreOS Linux operating system, which can be used to create and maintain open-source projects for Linux Containers, have announced the release and immediate availability for download of CoreOS 835.9.0.

CoreOS 835.9.0 is now the latest stable version of the GNU/Linux distribution, and according to its release notes, it updates the OpenSSL packages to version 1.0.2e, which patches five critical security vulnerabilities discovered recently in the upstream OpenSSL project.

More details about the security flaw fixes in the upstream OpenSSL packages can be found in the CVE-2015-3193, CVE-2015-3194, CVE-2015-3195, CVE-2015-3196, and CVE-2015-1794 identifiers for common computer vulnerabilities and exposures.

Additionally, it manages to fix a regression that prevented the machinectl login from functioning properly, as well as to repair a crash with the systemd-nspawn command, which occurred only in certain situations. Moreover, the shutdown behavior has been finally fixed, which means that it now cleanly kills SSH (Secure Shell) connections.

Please note that while the stable channel of CoreOS Linux is intended for production clusters, you can also jump ship and use the Beta and Alpha development channels, which contain more advanced features, such as a recent Linux kernel version, but keep in mind that they're not designed for production use.

Download CoreOS 835.9.0 right now from Softpedia. More details about CoreOS can be found on the project's website.
