Today, November 20, KDE has had the pleasure of informing users about the immediate availability for download and testing of the Beta release of the upcoming KDE Applications 15.12 software suite for the KDE Plasma 5.5 desktop environment.

The announcement comes one day after KDE published the Beta build of the next major version of the acclaimed KDE Plasma 5 desktop environment, KDE Plasma 5.5, and according to the release notes, numerous bugs reported by users since KDE Applications 15.08.3 have been resolved and various core apps were updated.

"Today KDE released the beta of the new versions of KDE Applications. With dependency and feature freezes in place, the KDE team's focus is now on fixing bugs and further polishing," wrote the KDE developers on today's announcement. "We're counting on you to help find bugs early so they can be squashed before the final release."

As always, the KDE developers are relying on the members of the community to take this Beta build of KDE Applications 15.12 for a test drive, along with the KDE Plasma 5.5 Beta release, and attempt to find bugs. Download links for the KDE Applications 15.12 Beta binary packages, as well as detailed installation information, can be found on the official announcement.

The development cycle of KDE Applications 15.12 will continue with a Release Candidate (RC) version, which KDE will seed to public testers on December 2, followed by the final release of KDE Applications 15.12 on December 16, 2015. The software suite will have three maintenance releases, KDE Applications 15.12.1 on January 12, 2016, KDE Applications 15.12.2 on February 16, and KDE Applications 15.12.3 on March 15.
