After having a lot of fun at Akademy 2015, the annual world summit of KDE which took place in A Coruña, Galicia, Spain between July 25-31, the KDE developers finally decided to post the announcement for the Beta release of KDE Applications 15.08.

Originally scheduled for July 28, KDE Applications 15.08 Beta brings with it all the KDE applications that you love and use every day on your KDE Plasma 5 desktop environment, which is used in numerous GNU/Linux operating systems.

The 15.08 release of the KDE Applications software suite promises to include even more apps based on the latest KDE Frameworks 5 technology, specifically designed for the next-generation KDE Plasma 5 desktop.

"Today KDE released the beta of the new versions of KDE Applications. With dependency and feature freezes in place, the KDE team's focus is now on fixing bugs and further polishing," reads the announcement.

As usual, users are being urged by KDE to download, install, and thoroughly test the Beta release of KDE Applications 15.08, and report bugs through the usual channels. Detailed installation instructions for various distros can be found in the announcement.

The development cycle of KDE Applications 15.08 will continue with an RC (Release Candidate) version that should be ready for testing later this week, on August 5, and the final release should be out on August 19, 2015, if everything goes according to plan.
