Today we have some great news for all WhatsApp fans out there, as it appears that there's now an unofficial desktop client for all mainstream operating systems, including GNU/Linux, Mac OS X, and Microsoft Windows.

Dubbed Unofficial WhatsApp for Desktop, the project is in fact a wrapper for the official WhatsApp Web App introduced by Facebook a while ago. However, it has been modified and tweaked to offer you a simple and beautiful desktop client for WhatsApp.

With WhatsApp for Desktop, users can chat without distractions and restriction on their favorite operating system, no matter if it's a GNU/Linux distribution like Ubuntu or big names like Apple's OS X and Microsoft's Windows OSes.

Aiming to become a personal, real-time messaging solution for desktops, the WhatsApp for Desktop client boasts features like group chat, support for opening links in a web browser, location sharing, as well as the ability to send images and videos.

Created by Romanian developer Alexandru Rosianu, WhatsApp for Desktop integrates with your operating system to offer system tray support, startup lunch, right-click context menu preferences, and native notifications that keep users informed about new messages and the total number of unread chats at all times.
