Canonical's Łukasz Zemczak sent in his daily reports, on August 17 and August 18, informing us all about the latest work done by the Ubuntu Touch developers, especially related to the upcoming OTA-6 software update.

According to Mr. Zemczak, the day of August 17 saw a great number of landings, just in time for the final freeze of the Ubuntu Touch OTA-6 update, which is today, August 18, 2015.

Among the apps that landed for OTA-6, we can mention improved versions of the Unity 8 user interface, new Messaging app, Networking Manager, PulseAudio trust-store integration, as well as an enhanced version of the web browser app.

"The OTA-6 preparation week has started. Sadly we weren't able to perform a test upload of translations last week though. Martin will try to get those created for the milestone tomorrow," says Łukasz Zemczak.

On August 18, Mr. Zemczak informs us that the OTA-6 final freeze is now planned for the end of the day, which means that the Ubuntu Touch developers had a very busy day pushing the last remaining fixes.

Although the emulator builds were fixed, it would appear that the emulator remains broken at the moment of writing this article, due to a bug in the UI Toolkit (UITK). If the developers don't fix the emulator, the OTA-6 update will be postponed.

Once the Ubuntu Touch devs manage to fix the emulator, they will be able to continue with the preparations for the release of the OTA-6 software update, which should see the light of day next week.
