To be implemented in the next version of Ubuntu

On July 16, Canonical's Steph Wilson posted a new article on the Ubuntu Design website to inform us all about the new beautified monochromatic icons that will be implemented in the next version of the Ubuntu Linux operating system.

Steph Wilson reports that the design team managed to reduce and standardize the strokes width of the icons from 6px or 8px to 4px, as well as to slightly reduce the curvature radius of squares and rectangles in order to make them less 'clumsy.'

Moreover, it would appear that there are now more outlines and less solid shapes, and that few outlines are "broken" to offer more personality to most icons, including those for bookmark, delete, copy, contact, paste, and slideshow.

"The rationale behind the new designs are similar to that of our old guidelines, where we have kept to our recurring font patterns but made them more streamlined and legible with lighter strokes, negative spaces, and a minimal solid shape," says Steph Wilson.

You can view the action, devices, indicators, and weather sets of beautified monochromatic icons in the gallery below. We also recommend visiting the announcement to see the difference between the old monochromatic icons and the new ones.
