GParted Live, a small bootable GNU/Linux distribution for x86-based computers that can be used for creating, reorganizing, and deleting disk partitions, has been upgraded to version 0.23.0-2 and is now available for download.

The Gparted developers have released a new version of the operating system, and they have made some small changes to distro, including an upgrade to the Debian base. "The underlying GNU/Linux operating system was upgraded. This release is based on the Debian Sid repository (as of 2015/Aug/06)," is noted in the announcement.

Also, the zerofree package has been added, and GParted has been recomplied on Debian Sid with updated libs, which should take care of any small issues that might pop up.

GParted Live can be installed on CD, USB, PXE server, and hard disk, then run on an x86 machine. People will find it very easy to use and shouldn’t have any problems running the operating system.

A complete list of new features and bug fixes can be found in the changelog. You can download GParted Live 0.23.0-2 right now from Softpedia. This is a very small distribution and weighs in at a little over 180MB, which makes it ideal for recovery and partitioning jobs. Please keep in mind that this is a very powerful tool and it can do as much damage as it does good if it falls into the wrong hands or if it's not used properly.
