Pretty much any distro with Unity or GNOME should use it

The development of the famous Paper theme and icon pack has been resumed, and it looks like things are back on track.

There was a time when it wasn’t possible to keep track of all the good themes and icons packs for Ubuntu or other OSes. Times have changed in this regard, and there are now only a handful of themes that are worth mentioning. These are the premium ones that stand out from the pack. Make no mistake about it, there are still hundreds of themes out there, but they are not all that good.

The Paper theme and icon pack are built by Sam Hewitt, but they’ve been in some kind of limbo for a while. He has started to work on them once again, and now they are getting adopted by the community. As you can expect, there is already a PPA in place to help users install it.

In theory, it should work on a number of Ubuntu systems, but it’s heavily dependent on GTK 3.16, so you’ll need at least Ubuntu 15.10 for the best experience. They are also working on other systems like Fedora or elementary OS.

To install the themes and icons in Ubuntu users only need to enter these commands in a terminal and apply the change with an application like Unity Tweak Tool:

code
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:snwh/pulp
sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install paper-icon-theme paper-gtk-theme
Enjoy!
