Earlier today, October 12, Debarshi Ray was happy to inform us all about the immediate availability of the first point release of his GNOME Photos 3.18 image viewer application for the soon-to-be-released GNOME 3.18.1 desktop environment.

Believe it or not, time flies fast in the Open Source world, so the acclaimed GNOME desktop environment is already getting its first maintenance release, GNOME 3.18.1, which should be available to users worldwide in the coming days through the official channels of their GNU/Linux operating systems.

Numerous core components and applications of the GNOME desktop have been updated as part of the 3.18.1 release, including the well-known GNOME Photos image viewer and organizer, which is mostly a bugfix build that addresses some of those annoying issues reported by users since the previous version of the software.

According to the internal changelog (attached at the end of the article for reference), GNOME Photos 3.18.1 can now handle the full-screen operation of the window manager, fixes an issue with the background of GdTaggedEntry tags, and removes the irrelevant toolbar that appears when disabling the App Menu.

Moreover, the pagination buttons are now displayed when attempting to preview search results, loading of additional items when available is now prevented, and the signal emissions and state changes have been simplified. You can download the GNOME Photos 3.18.1 sources right now from Softpedia.
