The GNOME Project announced the release of the first Beta build for the upcoming GNOME Boxes 3.18 open-source virtual manager software, which will be distributed as part of the anticipated GNOME 3.18 desktop environment.

According to the internal changelog attached at the end of the article for reference, GNOME 3.18 Beta (technical version number is 3.17.90) adds toggle buttons to the titlebar, allowing users to easily filter the main view to display all, remote, or local virtual machines.

Furthermore, the application is now capable of displaying the hostname and/or IP address of the remote oVirt and libvirt-based virtual boxes in the main icon view, improves the accessibility by adding mnemonics to several user interface components and allowing users to switch the settings pages via Alt+Right and Alt+Left.

Lastly, SPICE connection leaks have been plugged, tests for express installation of Fedora 21 and Fedora 22 operating systems has been added, and virtual machine launch cancellation is now better handled. Some tests have been ported or fixed, and the Brazilian Portuguese, Slovak, Greek, Norwegian bokmal, Catalan, Portuguese, Esperanto, Czech, and Spanish language translations have been updated.

Download GNOME Boxes 3.18 Beta right now from Softpedia. Please keep in mind that this is a pre-release version of the software. Thus, we don't recommend installing on production environments where stability is of the essence. GNOME Boxes 3.18 Beta will be available for testing as part of the forthcoming GNOME 3.18 Beta desktop environment, due for release later today.
