Today, May 25, 2016, GhostBSD maintainer Eric Turgeon has announced the general availability of the second Alpha release of the upcoming GhostBSD 10.3 operating system.

Three weeks have passed since the debut of the first Alpha build of GhostBSD 10.3, when the project's developers announced that the development was open and the base system was built on top of the FreeBSD 10.3 release.

Unfortunately, GhostBSD 10.3 Alpha 2 is not as rich in new features as the first Alpha build was because it only introduces UEFI (Unified Extensible Firmware Interface) support for the 64-bit version.

However, users are now able to also take the Xfce edition of GhostBSD 10.3 for a test drive, in addition to the MATE flavor that was made available during the release of the Alpha 1 build.

GhostBSD 10.3 Alpha 2 is mostly about bug fixes, addressing some of the most annoying issues reported by users since the first Alpha release. Please check the changelog below if you're curious to know what exactly has been changed.

Based on FreeBSD 10.3, the GhostBSD 10.3 operating system launches in the next few months with major new features, including support for the ZFS (Z File System) and UFS (Unix File System) filesystems.

There will also be ZFS encryption support in the installer, which has just received a redesign, as well as quarterly updates to the GhostBSD Software applications to keep your installation up to date at all times.

Until then, you can help the devs polish the final release by downloading and testing the 64-bit and 32-bit GhostBSD 10.3 Alpha 2 ISO images. Don't forget to report bugs if you encounter any.
