One week after the release of the second RC (Release Candidate) version of the upcoming FreeBSD 10.2 computer operating system, Glen Barber announced on August 7 the immediate availability for download and testing of FreeBSD 10.2 RC3.

According to the release notes, the third Release Candidate version of FreeBSD 10.2 comes with fewer changes than previous RCs. Among these, we can mention a fix for a problem with mlock, as well as the truncation of files, which could be backing the wired regions, and a fix for a shell security vulnerability in the patch utility.

FreeBSD 10.2 Release Candidate 3 also corrects an issue with bsdinstall that could have caused the tool to incorrectly validate the checksums of remote distribution sets, updates the pms driver to no longer attach itself to invalid devices, as it could lead to a system panic during the boot process.

Furthermore, an issue with the kern.racct.enable tunable was fixed, there's a patch for a remote DoS (Denial of Service) vulnerability in the routed daemon, and a segmentation fault in pw was addressed, related to changing the UID of a user. Download FreeBSD 10.2 RC3 right now from Softpedia.
