Kdenlive, a free multi-track video editor for Linux that supports DV, AVCHD and HDV editing, has been upgraded to version 15.08 and is now ready for download.

The Kdenlive application has recently joined the KDE project, and it's now an official part of the KDE Applications release cycle. This means that KDE Applications 15.08 is very close to a release and Kdenlive will arrive as well. To be fair, Kdenlive has been around for a long time, but its inclusion in KDE happened just a few months ago.

"Free Software events mark important milestones in our project evolutions. Lonely development is unsustainable for big projects; gathering developers, but also people with broader vision, every time renews motivation, gives new directions, focuses energy," reads the official announcement.

According to the changelog, great parts of code have been refactored, GPU effects from Movit have been brought back, many new experimental features have been implemented, and lots other fixes have been added as well. It's also worth pointing out that Kdenlive also recently migrated to Qt 5.x, so it's in line with all the other KDE-related projects.

You can download the source package for Kdenlive 15.08 from Softpedia. For more details about various distros, please make sure to check the download entry on the official website. It's possible to install without having a KDE-powered OS, but it comes with a lot of dependencies.
