After announcing the proposal to update the Python stack to version 3.5 for the Fedora 24 GNU/Linux operating system, Jan Kurik comes on the first day of October with news about the initial release schedule of the upcoming distribution.

Therefore, we can report today that the official release schedule for Fedora 24 is now live on the Fedora Project's wiki and suggests that the final release of Fedora 24 Linux operating system will land on May 17, 2016. The Alpha build of the distribution will be released on March 1, followed by the Beta release on April 12, 2016.

According to the release schedule, the development cycle of Fedora 24 starts sometime next year. January 2016 sees the deadline of the proposal submissions for system-wide changes, and Fedora 24 will be branched from Rawhide, which will become Fedora 25, in the first days of February 2016.

"Let me inform you that schedule of Fedora 24 has been approved by FESCo," says Jan Kurik, Fedora Program Manager. "I am currently in the process of cleaning the schedule from old stuff, so if you are aware of anything what is already deprecated, or something what is missing in the schedule, please let me know."

We all know that Fedora releases are prone to delays, which means that the dates listed above and in the official release schedule for Fedora 24 might suffer changes in time. On the other hand, Fedora 23 will be one of the few Fedora releases to arrive on time, due for launch later this month, on October 27, 2015.
