Today we're informing our readers about the fact that Fedora Project and Red Hat will terminate support for the Fedora 21 Linux operating system starting December 1, 2015.

What this means is that Fedora 21 will no longer receive security fixes and software updates starting the first day of December 2015, when the distribution will reach end of life.

"Fedora 21 will reach end of life on 2015-12-01, and no further updates will be pushed out after that time. Additionally, with the recent release of Fedora 23, no new packages will be added to the Fedora 21 collection," says Kevin Fenzi.

Therefore, with this article, we're encouraging all users of the Fedora 21 OS to back up all of their important files and begin the upgrade process to the recently released Fedora 23 operating system.

If you're not in the loop with the latest Fedora news, we kindly inform you that Fedora 23 brings a great number of new features, among which we can mention the most recent version of the KDE Plasma 5 and GNOME 3.18 desktop environments.

Fedora 23 is also powered by a recent Linux 4.2 kernel, which means that it offers support for modern hardware components. The distribution will be supported by the Fedora Project with software updates and bugfixes for a year.

If you want to upgrade to the Fedora 23 Linux operating system, please get familiar with the new DNF upgrade system, as the FedUp tool is no longer supported. More details can be found at https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/DNF_system_upgrade.
