The GNOME developers released the first maintenance version of the acclaimed GNOME 3.18 desktop environment a few days ago, a worthy update that introduces numerous new features and under-the-hood improvements.

During the past few weeks, we’ve written multiple articles regarding the new features implemented in some of the most popular core components and applications of the GNOME 3.18.1 desktop environment.

However, it looks like some maintainers remained behind, as the Evince document viewer was updated to version 3.18.1 for GNOME 3.18.1 the other day, October 21, 2015, bringing several bugfixes and lots of updated translations.

Looking at the attached changelog, we can notice that the Evince 3.18.1 fixes a performance regression that the app had with recent GTK+ builds, especially when fetching colors from the GtkStyleContext component.

A crash in the PDF backend of the application, which occurred when attempting to open PDF documents that contained screen annotations that didn't have actions, has been fixed, and right clicks are now ignored during the addition of new annotations.

Furthermore, the first point release of Evince 3.18 now correctly renders bookmark titles that contain characters like &, properly handles multiple documents that were added from the command-line, and displays error messages in the Recent View mode.

Last but not least, a crash that occurred when the thumbnailing and rendering operations failed has been patched. Numerous language translations have been updated as well. Download Evince 3.18.1 right now from Softpedia.
