Small features have made their way into the OS

elementary OS "Freya" is eagerly awaited by everyone and it has no launch date for the moment, but the developers are now teasing an interesting new feature for the terminal.

Among the features you might expect to find in a Linux distribution, you wouldn't really expect to find something that's related to the terminal. However, it looks like the devs found a way to enhance the user experience in the terminal by implementing a search function for the backlog.

In the regular terminal you have to press the up arrow key in order to go through all the commands you entered before. That means a backlog of commands is kept on the system, but that's the only way you can access it. Now, the elementary OS developers have added a search function that can be accessed with Ctrl + Shift + F. Also, it can be started with the mouse by clicking on the small glass icon indicator.

Interesting enough, this is the second change they've made to the terminal in the past weeks. They have also added a warning that draws attention when the user is pasting a command with "sudo" into the terminal. It will be ON by default, but it can be disabled from dconf at org.pantheon.terminal.settings.unsafe-paste-alert.

You can download the latest elementary OS "Freya" Beta from Softpedia and give it a spin.
