Alex Thüring has announced a new release of his open-source, free and cross-platform DVD authoring software, DVDStyler 2.9.4, which lets users create professional-looking DVDs with just a few clicks.

According to the attached release notes, DVDStyler 2.9.4 is both a feature and bugfix release, adding all sorts of improvements that have been requested by users since the previous release of the software.

Among the most interesting things, there's now a new option that can be used to automatically shut down the computer when the DVD burning operation finishes (available for both GNU/Linux and Microsoft Windows platforms).

The "Remember last button" option has been fixed, it is now possible to play NTSC videos inside a frame, slideshow transitions are now working correctly, and the audio time offset feature now works as expected, but it is only available for single streams.

Support for SMPTE (Society of Motion Picture & Television Engineers) time codes has been added in the chapter dialog, along with support for displaying the chapter end time if the "auto" option is selected.

Lastly, the default frame count for the still NTSC menu has been changed to 15 GOP size, and key frames are now forced at chapter marks if the video stream is reencoded. Download DVDStyler 2.9.4 for GNU/Linux, Mac OS X, and Microsoft Windows operating systems right now from Softpedia.
