digiKam, a digital photo management application for KDE and Linux, which also works as an image editor for photo corrections and manipulation, has been upgraded to version 4.12.0 and is now ready for download.

The digiKam collection of tools has been upgraded once again, and it's only a maintenance update. A large number of bugs have been corrected, and it looks like the Mac OS X platform is mostly the target for this release. It doesn't mean that Linux users should upgrade as soon as possible.

"This release is the result of another huge bugs triage on KDE bugzilla where more than 145 files have been closed. Thanks to Maik Qualmann who maintain KDE4 version while KF5 port and GSoC 2015 projects are in progress. Both are planned to be completed before end of this year," is noted in the announcement made by digiKam devs.

According to the changelog, the thumbnail orientation is now always in landscape even with portrait images, a new Facebook Import Gui Mockup has been added, imported folders now show images, and Exif dates are recognized properly.

The complete changelog for digiKam can be found on the official website. You can download digiKam 4.12 right now from Softpedia, but please keep in mind that these are just the sources. If you have a distribution like Arch Linux, for example, you can expect to find the new release much faster than anyone else.
