The development team behind darktable, an open source RAW image editor for GNU/Linux and OS X operating systems, announced the immediate availability for download of darktable 1.6.6.

darktable 1.6.6 is here to replace the previous version, 1.6.5, which contained some nasty bugs that have been fixed now. Thus, users of darktable 1.6.4 are urged to upgrade directly to version 1.6.6, skipping 1.6.5.

According to the release notes, darktable 1.6.6 addresses an issue with the support for the Olympus E330 digital camera, which was accidentally broken in darktable 1.6.4.

Additionally, the new maintenance release fixes white balance reading for the Canon Powershot SX50 HS digital camera and white balance presets for the RICOH GR digital camera.

"We are happy to announce that darktable 1.6.6 has been released. Please note that the 1.6.5 release was broken so 1.6.6 was directly pushed out. Just pretend 1.6.5 had been skipped," was stated in the announcement.

Last but not least, darktable 1.6.6 includes miscellaneous bug fixes, for lens correction, masks, profiled denoise, and other core functionality of the application.

darktable 1.6.6 is available for download for GNU/Linux and Mac OS X operating systems right now via Softpedia or directly from the project's website. The software also works with FreeBSD and Solaris OSes.
