Cryptark, a new 2D sci-fi roguelike shooter developed and published on Steam by a studio named Alientrap, also comes with Linux support and a 15% discount that will end in a couple of days.

The Linux platform has its share of 2D action games, and some of you might be tempted to say that they are too many. While that might be true somewhat, the Linux players can always receive a new really good game in a genre, no matter how many others are already available.

"Cryptark is a 2D roguelike shooter that challenges players with boarding and neutralizing procedurally generated alien starships to earn income for their Privateering enterprise. Purchase improved equipment and weapons to tackle more dangerous targets, but be cautious as failure will result in a loss of investment and profit," reads the Steam synopsis.

The game is still under development, and it looks like it's staying this way for some time. The developer released this game in the Early Access, but it looks like a lot of the content is already present, and the community seems to enjoy it.

The system requirements for Cryptark are not all that demanding. Users will need any modern OS with glibc 2.15+, a dual-core 2.5 GHz processor, 3 GB of RAM, and a Geforce 9600 GS or Radeon HD4000 with 512 MB of RAM.

The promotion for the game will end in about two days.
