Just a few minutes ago, January 13, 2016, the CodeWeavers company announced the release of the first maintenance build for the CrossOver 15.0 series, proprietary software that lets Linux and Mac users run Windows software and games.

According to the release notes, CrossOver 15.0.1 is here to merge the final release of the Wine 1.8 software. For those of you who don't know what CrossOver is, we can tell you that it's a commercial GUI for Wine.

Among other improvements, CrossOver 15.0.1 adds better support for Chinese characters, which are displayed smoothly on systems that don't contain all available Chinese fonts, and improves translations for non-English languages.

CrossOver 15.0.1 now allows Mac OS X users to install and play the StarCraft game, support for Quicken 2004 and earlier versions has been improved and they can now open database files, as well as let users utilize the backup functionality.

For Linux users, CrossOver 15.0.1 adds support for the CentOS 6 .7 operating system and better support for D-Bus. For Mac OS X users, the new release fixes several bugs in the graphical user interface.

Last but not least, both Linux and Mac users can now run the South Park: Stick of Truth game without issues. Download CrossOver 15.0.1 for GNU/Linux and Mac OS X operating systems right now from Softpedia.
