Cossacks 3 is a new real-time strategy from GSC Game World that is scheduled to be released by the end of 2015, and it will have Linux and SteamOS support.

GSC Game World is famous for its STALKER series, but it turns out that they also have the rights for the Cossacks games, which they also developed back in the day. They figured the market is ripe for the major comeback of the series, and they have already done most of the work. The fact that it will also run on Linux is just the cherry on top.

"Cossacks 3 is a classical real-time strategy game with army expansion, building construction and resource gathering. The game is set in 17-18 century with 12 playable nations and allows to have up to 10 000 units under player's control. After release number of nations are expanded to 20," reads the recently released FAQ.

From the looks of it, the developers have managed to keep the systems requirements very low, which is great news, since Cossacks is known for the fact that it has massive armies and thousands of active AI units.

Cossacks 3 will be available on Steam and maybe other digital distribution platforms, the developers have confirmed.
