Company of Heroes 2: The Western Front Armies is a standalone multiplayer game developed by Relic Entertainment and published by Sega, and it’s being released for Linux and Mac OS X.

It looks like Sega is really poised to bring the games in its catalog to Linux and they have released a new game for the open source platform, with the help of Feral Interaction, a company that specializes in porting games from Windows to other platforms.

“Ready yourself for heavy combat on the Western Front with the US Forces and the German Oberkommando West, bringing an unprecedented level of realism to multiplayer warfare on Mac and Linux. Company of Heroes 2: The Western Front Armies will break out on Steam for Mac and Linux on January 28th, followed by the Mac App Store soon after,” Feral devs wrote on their website.

The Western Front Armies expansion pack actually contains two armies, US Forces and Oberkommando West. The really good news is that it doesn’t require Company of Heroes 2, so it’s a stand-alone pack.

It was initially released for Windows players back in June 2014, so almost two years have passed since then. It was well received by the Company of Heroes 2 community, and it greatly extended the gameplay. It’s a multiplayer-only title, and we already have a review for it, although it’s for the Windows edition of the game.
