Today, July 1, Clement Lefebvre released the twelfth maintenance release of the modern and open-source Cinnamon 2.6 desktop environment for the Linux Mint 17.2 (Rafaela) operating system.

According to the release notes, which have been attached at the end of the article for reference, Cinnamon 2.6.12 is here to remove the "Quality" setting from the Photoframe desklet because it was declared deprecated, as well as to remove the unnecessary URL request that appears when refreshing the thumbnails.

Moreover, Cinnamon 2.6.12 fixes an issue with the activation of the hot corners from the right side of the screen that are being blocked by the pointer barrier, and various improvements have been implemented in the Trash applet, for which there's also a fix for a crash that occurred because of misnamed functions.

Last but not least, there's a fix for an issue related to startup notifications, where these failed to appear due to a startup problem with a certain desktop file. Cinnamon 2.6.12 is now live in the official software repositories of the Linux Mint 17.2 (Rafaela) operating system. Of course, only users of the Cinnamon edition should upgrade to it.
