Just a few minutes ago, May 22, 2016, Chakra GNU/Linux maintainer Neofytos Kolokotronis had the pleasure of announcing the availability of the latest KDE technologies in the main software repositories of the rolling OS.

Yes, that's right, Chakra GNU/Linux users are now receiving the recently released KDE Plasma 5.6.4 desktop environment, KDE Applications 16.04.1 software suite, and KDE Frameworks 5.22.0 collection of add-ons for Qt 5, along with the latest Wine 1.9.10 open-source software for running Windows applications and games.

All the new software versions mentioned above are mostly about bug fixes and improvements, so it is recommended that you update your Chakra GNU/Linux installation as soon as possible (see below for details). Of course, there are also various other packages that have been updated today for Chakra GNU/Linux users.

Therefore, if you are using the Chakra GNU/Linux operating system and want to install the new KDE technologies mentioned above, you can do so right away by updating the OS using the default package manager. For a correct update process, you'll need to execute the following commands in the terminal emulator.

However, the Chakra GNU/Linux maintainers inform us that not all the mirrors have been synchronized with the main server at the moment of writing this article, so if you don't see the new software versions mentioned above on your favorite mirror, do check the mirror status page for an update later today.

sudo pacman -Syu > this will return the expected error
sudo pacman -S kde-runtime --force > this will workaround the problem
sudo pacman -Syu > to continue the upgrade as usual
