Neophytos Kolokotronis from the Chakra GNU/Linux development team has posted news about the latest updates introduced in the current stable release of the rolling-release operating system.

Starting today, Chakra GNU/Linux users will get the recently released KDE Applications 15.04.3 software suite for the next-generation KDE Plasma 5 desktop environment, the Calligra 2.9.6 office suite, KDELibs 4.14.10, KDE PIM 4.14.10, KDE Workspace 4.11.21, Mozilla Firefox 39.0 web browser, Wine 1.7.46, pip 7.0.3, and Mozilla Thunderbird 38.1.

"Have in mind that the applications that have been ported to Frameworks 5 will not be updated in the stable repositories but remain at their previous versions," says Neophytos Kolokotronis. "The new versions of these packages are available in the [kde-next] repository which provides Plasma 5."

To get the new software versions mentioned above, all Chakra GNU/Linux users are urged to upgrade their installations as soon as possible using the detailed instructions provided by the distribution's developers on the announcement. Basically, you will have to use the built-in package manager utility to apply the new updates.

We kindly remind everyone that the latest KDE packages are available in the "kde-next" software repository. Before performing the update, please make sure that the distro's mirror is fully synced. More details are provided on the project's website.
