It's still possible to download the apps from the store

Developers are working on the next OTA update for Ubuntu Touch, and they are preparing to make some big improvements to the operating system, but it looks like the Calendar and the Dekko email client won't be a part of it.

A lot of work goes into one of these updates for Ubuntu Touch, and this cycle has been especially difficult because of the switch to GCC 5. A lot of issues need to be dealt with, and the adoption of a couple new apps for the default installation would have put too much on the platter.

"In the nearest day we will also prioritize all work related to getting emulator images building again and actually 'working,' as this is a blocker for OTA-6. We also wanted to include calendar and dekko by default in OTA-6, but it seems both aren't quite ready for that yet. Will probably have to be postponed once again. For now users will have to get those from the store," wrote Łukasz 'sil2100' Zemczak in the official mailing list.

Developers still have a couple of weeks left before they get anywhere close to launching it, so we're bound to see more information about what's coming. In the meantime, you can always download those cool apps from the Store and wait for their integration in a future version.
