Francesco Milesi, the creator of the Birds Linux open source operating system based on the latest GNU/Linux technologies and designed for students, informs Softpedia readers about the release and immediate availability for download of Birds Linux 6.0.

Powered by Linux kernel 4.2.4, Birds Linux 6.0 is built around the recently released KDE Plasma 5.4.3 desktop environment, and includes up-to-date open source software like VLC Media Player 2.2.1 video player, and QCad 3.12.1 computer-aided design application.

Moreover, the distribution now includes the Konqueror 5.4.3 and Google Chrome 46.0.2490.80 web browsers, the DrJava 20140826 r5761 lightweight development environment for writing Java program, and the Kopete instant messenger client.

A bunch of in-house built tools designed specifically for students are also included in Birds Linux 6.0. Among these, we can mention Budgie Calc 6.0 for studying rational functions, and Budgie Zero 0.1 for performing the root-finding method of bisection.

Moreover, pH Calc 1.0 for calculating pH, AuLi 1.0 for calculating potential of an electrolytic cell application, Wren Matrix 2.0 for studying matrices, and Hoopoe 1.0 for linear interpolation tools are also included in Birds Linux 6.0.

The BirdsApp 2.0 GUI (Graphical User Interface) will let you install more Birds Linux applications. There's also support for accessing social networks. Download Birds Linux 6.0 right now from Softpedia, where it's distributed for free as a 64-bit Live ISO image.
