Big Journey to Home, a 2D adventure game developed and published on Steam by The Light Sword Team, has been released on the Linux platform as well.

The Steam for Linux platform seems to be a good fit for this kind of titles, and there are quite a few out there. It's going to be difficult for Big Journey to Home to get noticed, but the game was just made available, and it has a long road ahead. If the developers keep it updated and they integrate suggestions from the community, it might prove to be a worthwhile experience.

"You play as Jake, a simple guy who accidently got into trouble. What will happen to him, how he will behave, will he get home or not, all that depends on you. You will encounter a variety of creatures along your way, from roaches to huge scorpions, lizards and even small hamsters! Apart from living beings, you will see a variety of complex mechanisms. To overcome snow, forests, deserts and underground areas, you will require a good weapon. Though you already have that - a well-sharpened blade that will slice (almost) every monster," reads the Steam synopsis.

The system requirements for the game are quite low, and everyone should be able to play it. Players will need at least Ubuntu 14.04 LTS (other distros will work as well), an Intel Pentium III/AMD or newer, 512 MB of RAM, an OpenGL-supported video card with at least 128MB VRAM, and 60 MB of HDD space.

Big Journey to Home comes with a 20% discount that will end on August 27.
