The development team behind the BlackArch project, a GNU/Linux distribution derived from Arch Linux and designed to be used for penetration testing and security analysis operations, has released an updated installation media, BlackArch 2015.07.31.

Being powered by Linux kernel 4.1.3 LTS, the new ISO images of BlackArch Linux include 30 new tools, numerous updated core components, new color config for the Vim advanced text editor, as well as an updated README file, located on /root/.

Additionally, the splash.png image was replaced, the blackarch-install.txt file was deleted, some typos were fixed in the config files of the ISO images, and all the included tools were updated to their latest versions available as of July 31, 2015.

"Today we released new BlackArch Linux ISOs. The new ISOs include over 1230 tools for i686 and x86_64 and over 1010 tools," reads the announcement. "We wish to thank all of BlackArch's users, mirrors, and supporters. Thanks for your help."

BlackArch 2015.07.31 is available for download right now via Softpedia or directly from the distribution's website. It is distributed as two ISO images, one for each of the supported hardware architectures, 32-bit (x86) and 64-bit (x86_64).
