4MLinux developer Zbigniew Konojacki proudly informs Softpedia today about the general availability of the Antivirus Live CD 21.0-0.99.2 bootable ISO image for scanning computers for viruses and other malware.

For those not familiar with Antivirus Live CD, it's a freely distributed and platform-independent form of the 4MLinux operating system, built around the open-source Clam AntiVirus (ClamAV) antivirus engine for detecting viruses, malware, trojans, and other malicious threats.

But Antivirus Live CD incorporates several other useful utilities that will help you protect your computers against viruses, such as the popular Midnight Commander file manager to navigate the infected filesystems and remove the malware, as well as some basic UNIX tools for general system administration tasks.

The latest release, Antivirus Live CD 21.0-0.99.2, is here two and a half months after the release of the previous version. It has been rebased on the latest 4MLinux 21.0 operating system, which includes recent GNU/Linux technologies and Open Source software, and uses ClamAV 0.99.2.

"Antivirus Live CD is an official 4MLinux fork including the ClamAV scanner. It's designed for users who need a lightweight live CD, which will help them to protect their computers against viruses. The latest version 21.0-0.99.2 is based on 4MLinux 21.0 and ClamAV 0.99.2," reads the release announcement.

Antivirus Live CD 21.0-0.99.2 is now available for download from our website and, as usual, it is distributed as two ISO images, one that contains no virus signatures, which should be fetched by those who can't download the bigger image that contains the entire virus signature database from the ClamAV project.
