The development team behind the antiX Linux distribution have announced on June 20 the immediate availability for download and testing of the first RC (Release Candidate) version of the upcoming antiX 15 OS.

Powered by Linux kernel 4.0.5, antiX 15 RC1 is here to inject various educational apps to the meta-installer, to improve the remastering and persistence features, to add bootchart, as well as to speed up the boot time of the Live CD.

The Silicon Integrated Systems (SiS) video drivers should now work out-of-the-box, various options have been removed from the antiX Control Centre app, and clearlooks-phenix-theme, searchmonkey, livestreamer, and streamlight packages have been added.

Of course, many of the bugs reported by users since the Beta 3 version of antiX 15 have been plugged. Users are being informed that they can install the Release Candidate 1 using only the Custom option.

We're informing all of you that antiX 15 RC1 can be downloaded from Softpedia, but try to keep in mind that this is still a pre-release version, which contains unresolved issues, such as an unusable command-line installer and broken IceWM applets and clock in the taskbar for persistence live sessions.
