On December 18, 2015, AMD released for download the AMD Radeon Software Crimson Edition 15.12 proprietary graphics driver for Linux kernel-based operating systems.

The Linux release comes right after the announcement of AMD Radeon Software Crimson Edition 15.12 for Windows, but according to the release notes, it only has a single change, support for building the .deb packages under the Ubuntu 15.10 (Wily Werewolf) operating system.

AMD Radeon Software Crimson Edition 15.12 is a small update to last month's AMD Radeon Software Crimson Edition 15.11 release, which also failed to bring any significant changes, at least visual ones, as the installer looks the same as the one for AMD Catalyst 15.9.

However, it would appear the there's now support for more GNU/Linux distributions, especially some recently released ones, such as  Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.2. All Ubuntu Linux OSes are supported at this time, including 15.10, 15.04, 14.04 LTS, and 12.04 LTS.

Among other supported distros, we can mention Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.1, 7.0, 6.7, 6.6, and 6.5, SUSE Linux Enterprise 11 SP3 and 12, and OpenSuSE 13.1, but AMD provides binary packages only for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.1, 7.0, 6.6, and 6.5, as well as Ubuntu 12.04.4 LTS ad 14.04.2 LTS.

If you're using any of the GNU/Linux operating systems mentioned above on an AMD graphics card, we strongly recommend that you update the drivers to AMD Radeon Software Crimson Edition 15.12 as soon as possible by downloading the binary packages for your distribution from our website.
