Users are urged to upgrade to Chapeau 22

Vince Pooley of Chapeau Linux has informed us that his Chapeau 21 GNU/Linux operating system reached end of life on December 1, 2015, and it will no longer be supported.

The announcement comes right after we reported a couple of days ago that the Fedora 21 Linux distribution reached end of life, also on the first day of December 2015, which means that there will be no more software updates, bug fixes, and security patches for the respective OSes.

"No new packages or updates from the Fedora or Chapeau projects will now be released for Chapeau 21," said Vince Pooley. "Therefore it is strongly recommended to update your Chapeau 21 installation to the latest stable release to enjoy newer versions of your software and continued software updates."

Users of the Chapeau 21 distribution are urged to immediately back up their most important files and proceed with the upgrade process to the current stable release of the project, Chapeau 22. For instructions on how to upgrade, please visit the official documentation.

In related news, we announced a few days ago the immediate availability for download of the second Beta release of the next major version of the GNU/Linux operating system, Chapeau 23, which will be based on Fedora 23 and which you can download right now from Softpedia.

Although it is now possible to upgrade your Chapeau 22 installation to the Chapeau 23 release, you should keep in mind the fact that the latter is a pre-release version of the final operating system, which means that you shouldn't install it in a production environment.
