An Ubuntu-based operating system aimed at Windows users that are switching over to Linux, Zorin OS, has now reached version 5.2.

Zorin OS is built on the Linux architecture so it is completely open source and it's based on Ubuntu Linux.

This is the second update in the Zorin OS 5 series. Unlike the previous versions, this one falls back to GNOME 2.x classic environment instead of Ubuntu’s Unity shell.

It's unclear why they took this step back in development, but it's probably related to the criticism  Ubuntu’s Unity shell has received lately.

Zorin OS 5.2 also includes an updated Linux kernel, various security updates, upgraded programs, an all-new window border theme, an updated icon theme and an overhauled sound theme that features a fresh, new start-up sound.
