You'll need some special connectors, but it's easy enough

It's easy to forget that Ubuntu Touch is actually a Linux-based phone, but that's perfectly true. That's why it's possible to connect a USB keyboard to it and use it with very few modifications.

An Ubuntu user has posted a short video in which he's showing just how easy it is to connect a regular PC keyboard to an Ubuntu phone and use it like it's no big deal. I dare you to try this on any other mobile OS. The functionality is there because the Linux kernel can recognize the device and the OS is capable of integrating the keyboard.

This is just another element of the famous Ubuntu convergence and proof that Ubuntu for phones and Ubuntu for desktops are not all that far apart. The fact that you can plug a device, with the help of black cherry switches and an OTG-Cable, to a BQ Aquaris E.4.5 Ubuntu Edition shows that convergence is not just a tagline. It already works at a code level.

Ubuntu Touch can be found right now on three different phones, the BQ Aquaris E.4.5 Ubuntu Edition, the BQ Aquaris E5 HD Ubuntu Edition, and Meizu MX Ubuntu Edition. The only caveat is that BQ Aquaris E5 HD Ubuntu Edition will ship at the end of the month.

Enjoy!
