Thanks to the Caxton application and browser extension

A Softpedia user has brought to our attention that there’s a new application for Ubuntu Touch OS, as well as corresponding browser extensions, that allow users to send web pages (basically any URL) to their Ubuntu Phone devices.

This is possible thanks to the Caxton project, which apparently is both an Ubuntu Touch app (available in the Ubuntu Store right now) and an add-on for the Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome, and Opera web browsers (Safari works too apparently).

Caxton lets you send URLs to your Ubuntu-powered device from any web browser (see below for details). In addition, there’s a Caxton API (Application Programming Interface) that can handle push notifications, which means that you can use it to send messages to any Ubuntu Phone app or integrate push sends into your desktop apps.

Best of all, Caxton integrates with the IFTTT (If This Then That) web-based service for sending notifications to your Ubuntu Phone, or anything else for that matter, as the possibilities are endless with IFTTT.

To send web pages to your Ubuntu Phone using Caxton, simply install the extension for your favorite web browser from here (a new button will be added to your toolbar), press the Caxton button on the web page you want to send, then press the “Get a code for an app” in the Caxton app for Ubuntu Phone to get a code, which you will enter into the browser.
