A user has reported that he has managed to get the boot time to 9.2 sec

The boot speed of an operating system is a very important benchmark, and it seems that Ubuntu can do it in under 10 seconds.

In order to improve the boot time of an operating system, a number of steps must to be taken. First off, you will need newer hardware, like a powerful processor, fast memory, and fast SSD. Secondly, a light operating system will also help.

A user has reported that he is able to boot his Ubuntu system in under 10 seconds, but he reckons it could be even faster.

“I've broken the 10 second boot time barrier, at 9.2 seconds. Has anyone beaten this? I'm looking for ways to improve. I have fairly new hardware, so I feel like I should be able to haul sub 8. I'm currently using the server edition of 12.04, with #i3wm as my window manager. I also have an SSD,” the user said on his Google+ account.

If you can beat this time (with a distribution that doesn't run only in terminal), make sure to leave a comment below.
