Xubuntu users will be happy to know that now they can install the latest Xfce 4.11 packages straight from the developers.

The new and improved Xfce 4.11 has been released a few days ago, but users who have the previous version installed can enjoy an important upgrade.

The process is rather simple and all you need to do is know how to open a terminal. The upgrade only works on Xubuntu 12.04, 12.10, 13.04, and 13.10, and all other Ubuntu and Xfce-based distributions out there.

Open a terminal and enter the following commands:

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:xubuntu-dev/xfce-4.12 sudo add-apt-repository ppa:xubuntu-dev/xfce-4.10 sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get dist-upgrade

The update should run smoothly and you will need to restart the system in order to get everything into place.

Enjoy your new Xfce 4.11 desktop.

Remember that this is a development version and it should NOT be installed on production machines. It is intended for testing purposes only.
