XBMC, an open source (GPL) software media player and entertainment hub for digital media that is available for multiple platforms, has just reached version 13.0 Beta 3 and is now available for testing.

The XBMC developers are moving fast and they are releasing a new version every couple of weeks. The new releases are getting smaller though as the development cycle moves forwards.

“Ever since the release of iOS 7, Airplay support in XBMC has suffered. Fortunately, thanks to generous contributions from our users, the Foundation has been able to purchase hardware specifically for testing and development of this and related issues, and dev Memphiz appears to have finally resolved the majority of Airplay issues in this Beta release (except for Android for now),” reads the announcement.

According to the changelog, Android hardware video decoding support has been added to Exynos devices, various video and audio playback fixes have been implemented, the Skip to DVD menu has now been brought on par with the automatic skip performed by VLC, Wii controller support on Linux is now working just fine, and more.

Check out the official announcement for a complete list of new features, updates, and changes. Download XBMC 13.0 Beta 3 right now from Softpedia.

Remember that this is a development version and it should NOT be installed on production machines. It is intended for testing purposes only.
