Wayland, a protocol for a compositor to talk to its clients, as well as a C library implementation of that protocol, which can be used as a standalone display server running on Linux kernel modesetting and evdev input devices, an X application, or a Wayland client itself, has reached version 1.2.

The final version of Wayland 1.2 has arrived shortly after the release candidates and it features a lot of changes and improvements.

Highlights of Wayland 1.2:

• A stable wayland-server API has been implemented; • Two color management schemes have been implemented in Weston (a simple cms plugin that reads a profile from weston.ini and a more advanced plugin that integrates with colord); • The Wayland Input Method Framework is now feature complete; • The Rasperry Pi backend and renderer has been implemented.

A detailed list of changes can be found in the official announcement.
