A new Wine development version is now available for testing and download

On November 8, Alexandre Julliard announced a new development version of the Wine app, which brings assorted bug fixes and improvements.

After releasing a major version only a few months ago, 1.6.0, the Wine developers started work on the next branch and this is the sixth version in 1.7.x.

According to the developers, the BiDi algorithm has been rewritten for full Unicode 6.3 support, support has been added for Video Mixing Renderer version 7, and other various bug fixes have been implemented.

Also, a number of games have received various fixes, including Max Payne 2, Bioshock, Battlefield Bad Company 2, Split Second, Post Apocalyptic Mayhem, Dragon Age 2, Battle City, Mass Effect 2 and 3.

Remember that this is a development release and it should NOT be installed on production machines. It is intended to be used for testing purposes only.
