All you have to do is to create an origami Unicorn

Canonical has announced earlier today, on their website and Twitter account, that they’re giving away an Ubuntu Phone device to the winner of an origami contest related to the Ubuntu 14.10 mascot, the Utopic Unicorn.

To win an Ubuntu Phone, you will have to be a little bit creative and fold your own Origami Unicorn using these instructions. The contest takes place on Instagram, and the Unicorn that has the most number of likes wins.

There are some rules though, as you can only use a single sheet of paper, and you must post your custom creation to Instagram (contestants must create an account if they don’t have one) using the #fingertipchallenge hashtag.

“Origami has long been associated with good fortune and represents the visual style for the Ubuntu Phone,” says Amrisha Prashar in the short blog announcement. “We would like to invite you to create your own Origami Unicorn for the chance to win an Ubuntu Phone.”

I have to admit that I’ve attempted to create an Origami Unicorn in the past without success, simply because the official instructions provided by Canonical are quite hard to understand, especially if it’s your first time creating an origami.

After creating various origami using instructional videos, I now have an idea on how to correctly read Canonical’s instructions for its unique Origami Unicorn. Therefore, I kinda succeeded to fold the Ubuntu Origami Unicorn using the said instructions, so here's my creation.

We have no idea what Ubuntu Phone device Canonical will offer to the winner, because there are two of them available on the market, the BQ Aquaris E4.5 and Meizu MX4 Ubuntu Edition. Most probably, it will be the one from BQ.
